The Newest Place in the City

CityPlace, the soon-to-be place to be in North Houston. Formerly Springwoods Village Town Center, CityPlace has been a well-kept secret up until now. Consisting of millions of square feet hosting offices, shops, two hotels, and a luxury-based multifamily complex, this 60-acre development is coming together under the Houston’s own Patrinely Group and CDC Houston- and San Antonio-run USAA Real Estate. The architect for the project is San Francisco’s Gensler, and the general contractor is Houston’s Harvey Builders. You can find CityPlace near the flourishing Exxon Mobil campus, at the intersection of I45, the Grand Parkway and the Hardy Toll Road.

The executive vice president and director of development of CDC Houston, Keith Simon, declared ” CityPlace is the heart and soul of Springwoods Village and an important next step in the growth of the community and will provide amenities to those already living and working in Springwoods Village.”

The beginning of the development includes the building of two Class A office structures, covering 440,000 square feet and ground-floor retail. The first building is expected to be completed in the final quarter of 2015. Office leasing will be controlled by JJL in Houston; retail leasing by Transwestern. The plan for CityPlace includes 4 million square feet for office space. Martin Fein Interests is also booked to build a 268-until multifamily apartment community. The majority of all properties will have ground-floor retail space. The two hotels to be built in CityPlace are an unnamed full-service hotel by Woodbine Development Corp. and a Marriott Residence Inn.

Chrissy Wilson, senior vice president of JLL, declared, “CityPlace’s location … offers unparalleled access for corporations seeking to operate in a highly accessible, self-contained, state-of-the-art environment that connects nature and urbanism and is only 15 minutes from George Bush Intercontinental Airport.”

CityPlace will be a vital epicenter for the many people that the Exxon Mobil project brings in, helping to grow the Houston area with new offices, shops, and housing.
