You may not have gotten around to developing your dream patio earlier this year, and perhaps it seems too late with the kids back in school and the laid-back summer months waning. But there are perks to waiting until the end of the season to make changes to your backyard.
Leave crowds behind
Since most people will have updated their yards and patios months earlier, you won’t have to fight your way through aisles or spend countless minutes waiting in lines to check out.
Forget the sweat
As the weather cools and days become shorter, it’s easier to work outdoors to build and update your patio. It’s also less rainier than the beginning of the summer, so you don’t have to slog through mud to place stepping stones, etc.
Buy up deals
According to Consumer Reports, September is the best time to buy a gas grill or lawnmower. As stores try to get rid of seasonal items to make room for fall and winter inventory, they mark down prices and offer better deals on things such as outdoor furniture and accessories and even certain building materials.
Great places to look for patio equipment and materials include Lowe’s, Home Depot, and even At Home (formerly Garden Ridge). Walmart and Target also carry outdoor furniture and accessories, and will discount prices at the end of the season.
