The Woodlands: Making the list of Houston’s Greatest Hits

Posted OnJul 21, 2013

The Woodlands Waterway shops

Welcome to the seller’s market, especially in the Houston/Woodlands area.  A buyer has to fight tooth and nail to purchase a house in this high demand, low inventory real estate industry.  It’s also the only area with 27,000 permits for single-family construction in one year, as well as the relocation of Exxon,  both leading to changing property values overnight.  With the boom in real estate, The Woodlands has made the list of the 20 hottest neighborhoods in Houston and is described as “where self-sufficiency is the master plan”.

Thirty-nine years after its birth, The Woodlands now holds a population of aproximately 105,000 people.  It began as a small residential area bereft of businesses: corporate, retail, or otherwise.  This so called town, however, is now basically its own city with suburbs, malls, shops, restaurants, schools, community college, churches, theaters, and even its own waterway (much like a mini version of San Antonio’s Riverwalk) and entertainment space, the Cynthia Woods Mitchell Pavilion.  Exxon has also decided to relocate to this expanding suburbia, further upping the ante on the already high demand for residential homes.  Self-sufficient, constantly growing, and full of its own unique character, The Woodlands is definitely a “town” to keep your eye on, and maybe take a quick drive to visit.  If you happen to stay and possibly move in, the residents won’t blame you.  In fact, they’ll welcome you with open arms and lots of restaurant and shopping suggestions.
